Hello Aspirant,
Hope you are doing well.
Every year, thousands of students seek for admission to the IIMs' MBA programmes, which are among the most prestigious in the world. Because the total number of seats available at all 20 IIMs is about 4000, not everyone is admitted. Once the initial list of chosen applicants is released, a second batch of selected students is held on standby in case any of the first group decides to decline their position. The seat is then given to the next most qualified applicant to fill it. The word "waitlist" refers to a list of students who are waiting for someone to voluntarily give up their place. The IIM waitlist is mostly comprised of the amount of seats that have been promoted from the waitlist slab to the offer level. Students spend an inordinate amount of time for the waitlists of IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA), IIM Bangalore (IIMB), and IIM Calcutta (IIMC) to move in order for their prospects of admission to become more favourable. This has been seen year after year. Nonetheless, the newly formed and growing IIM waiting movement has recently attracted widespread notice. The movement of the waitlist at IIMs and a few other top MBA schools is based on the category. General categories are subjected to very strict criteria, while the SC, ST, OBC and PWD categories are given considerable leeway in their requirements. IIM Lucknow does not publish a queue for admission. Instead, they publish the merit list, which is more appropriate. In order to be guaranteed a spot on the merit list, a student must get the bare minimum of 12 out of 40 points in the preliminary examination.
