In India maximum duration of PhD is 6 years and minimum is 3 years. It will totally depend on your subjects and your works. Also in between you can take a break and that's my increase your duration of the course. Maybe the delay in reviewing your journals and papers by the officials take a while, which can also contribute to increase in duration. Some universities set a maximum registration period of 5 years to complete the phd. It can also depends upon your knowledge in your research area and experience, your research guide, relevance of your research work, availability of resources and your dedication. Hence usually on an average to complete the phd it's may take 327 years maximum and based on circumstances it can increase.
