Hi there,
The coding is itself a vast topic. People code for website, for app development, for data storage, cleaning and maintenence etc.
The best to tip for all of them to learn and understand coding is to do hands-on it. If you are beginner then start with python. There various online resources paid and unpaid that could help you to gain insights. Although you must have seen colleges containing C and C++ as part of their curriculum. So you could even start from that also. But keep this in mind that the concepts of C and C++ are vast as compared to python. Most issue the beginners face is that they are unable to grasp some topics and ends up either leaving them or doing rote learning. That's why it is better to start from python to gain basic programming knowledge.
Also introspect yourself during this journey. What you are intrested to pursue after learning coding. The reason is most people go for competitive programming to get placed at the end. But not all may like to do it and because of it they loose good amount of time instead if learning something fruitful for them they end up barking up the wrong tree.
