Dear aspirant,

to pursue astronomy and become an astronomer as a profession you will need to qualify for the following requirements,

  • To become an astronomer, a PhD degree is compulsory
  • You will need to complete your 10+2 in the stream of Science, having subjects such as Physics and Mathematics
  • You can do an under graduate course in Astronomy, or even take up honors/major in Physics with Mathematics as a secondary subject
  • For your post graduation you can pursue your degree in either Physics or Astronomy
  • After completing your post graduation you can do a specialization in astronomy leading to Ph. D
