To become an IAS officer, you have complete your 12th class and after that you also have complete your graduation from any stream (science, commerce,arts) . Then you are eligible for UPSC exam (IAS,IPS,IFS, OTHER POSTS) .

In upsc exam 3 rounds are conducted :-

1. In first round prelim exam will conduct.

2. In second round main exam will conduct.

3. In third round interview exam will conduct.

Note:-

. In prelim exam 2 papers will be given.

. In main exam 9 papers will be given.

. After clearing 2 rounds then you are selected for interview round.

Prem, UPSC is the examination for becoming an IAS officer. The eligibility criteria for appearing for UPSC is that you should have a Bachelor's degree in any discpline.

UPSC is a 3 stage  selection process involving Prelims, Mains and Interview which tests your personality test. Prelims has 2 Papers namely General Studies and CSAT.

General Studies has Current Events, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Economic and Social Development, Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change and General Science.

CSAT has Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Logical Reasoning and Analytical ability, Decision making and problem solving, General Mental Ability, Basic numeracy and Data Interpretation.

If you look at the Prelims syllabus it is what you have learnt upto 10th and 12th. So if you have studied Science in your 12th, you should pick up a Bachelor's degree which has one of these subjects and also has good scope in case things don't work out as planned. In order to be an IAS you are required to appear for civil services exam which have 3 stages i.e UPSC mains , upsc advanced and interview round after completion all three rounds you Will be allotted rank according to your score. ias is the most aspired post among civil services aspirant and you need to score really high rank in order to get this post.


It doesn't matter if you are a science student any stream student can appear for upsc only minimum requirement is having a bachelors degree ( again from any stream). So you will have to pursue a B.A degree first, it will be helpful to go or B.A in arts subject such as history or political science. After completing B.A you will be eligible for UPSC.

I will suggest you to go through UPSC exam pattern and syallabus to get a better knowledge and plan accordingly.

There is no specific subject to be qualified for UPSC exams but, in general, engineering is surely the go-to stream, if you want to not only crack the civil services examination but also emerge among thetopranking candidates to be eligible for theIASposts.

Eligibility Criteria for IAS 2020:Educational Qualification -

A degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be a Deemed University under the UGC Act, 1956, or an equivalent qualification.
Candidates who have appeared or intend to appear for the qualifying examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to appear for the Preliminary Examination however, they are supposed to submit proof of passing the requisite qualification along with Detailed Application Form for Civil Services (Main) Examination
The educational qualification required for this examination is Graduate in any discipline. There is no minimum percentage required in graduation. The only essential condition is that the graduate degree should be from a Government recognised University. The exam is so designed that the persons from different backgrounds are placed at the level playing field. There is no advantage to the candidates, who have better marks in their degree course,only the civil services exam marks matters.
