Correct Answer: 20 : 21

Solution : Let us assume that in each jump, Tom covers distance 't' units and Jerry covers distance 'j' units.
Distance covered by Tom in 7 jumps = 7t units
Distance covered by Jerry in 5 jumps = 5j units
According to the question,
7t = 5j ⇒ $\frac{t}{j}=\frac{5}{7}$
Let Tom's 1 jump be 5 units and Jerry's 1 jump be 7 units.
In the same interval of time, Tom jumps 8 times while Jerry jumps 6 times.
$\therefore$ The ratio of their speed is:
$\frac{8\times 5}{6\times 7}=\frac{40}{42}=\frac{20}{21}$
Hence, the correct answer is 20 : 21.
