Topicwise weightage of IIT JAM MATHEMATICS 2021 exam
Hello,
As per the previous year trends, maximum weightage has been provided to differential calculus followed by linear algebra, sequence and series, differential equation, integral calculus, and vector calculus. But, preparing for all the topics in the syllabus is equally important as well since we never know if the similar pattern will be followed in the time to come.
You can go through the following books for the topics in the syllabus:
- For functions of one variable and two real variable you can use Mathematical Analysis by S.C. Malik,Mathematical Analysis by Apostol,Principle of Mathematical Analysis by Rudi
- For Integral Calculus, you can use Mathematical Analysis by H.C. Malik,Calculus by Thomas & Finny/Integral Calculus by Gorakh Prasad
- For Vector Calculus, you can use Geometry & Vectors by Vasishtha/ Calculus by Thomas & Finny
- For Differential Equations you can use Ordinary Differential Equations by Earl.A.Coddington/Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems by Boyce-Diprima/Ordinary Differential Equation by Peter J. Collins, G.F. Simmons, M.D. Raisinghania
- For Real Analysis you can use Real Analysis by H. L. Royden
- For Linear Algebra you can use Schaum's Series/Gilbert Strang by Linear Algebra & its applications/Modern Algebra by A.R. Vasishtha/University Algebra by N.S. Gopalakrishan

The weightage of IIT JAM for every subject differs every year, but here I'm listing the topic wise weightage of year 2019 and 2018 of IIT JAM exam for mathematics:
1. Real Analysis- 8 marks in 2019 and 0 marks in 2018
2. Linear algebra- 5 marks in 2019 and 6 marks in 2018
3. Modern algebra- 2 marks in 2019 and 7 marks in 2018
4. Differential equation- 4 marks in 2019 and 7 marks in 2018
5. Vector calculus- 4 marks in 2019 and 5 marks in 2018
6. Integral calculus- 4 marks in 2019 and 3 marks in 2018
7. Differential calculus- 16 marks In 2019 and 12 marks in 2018
8. Sequence and series- 7 marks in 2019 and 10 marks in 2018
Hope this helps, all the best.
