Correct Answer: 11.2 sec

Solution : The total distance to be covered = 125 m + 99 m = 224 m
The relative speed of the two trains when they are moving in opposite directions is the sum of their speeds.
The relative speed = 40 km/h + 32 km/h = 72 km/h
= $72\times \frac{5}{18}$ = 20 m/sec
The time taken for the trains to be completely clear of each other $=\frac{224\;\mathrm{m}}{20\;\mathrm{m/sec}} = 11.2\;\mathrm{sec}$
Hence, the correct answer is $11.2\;\mathrm{sec}$.
