Hello Aspirant,
Hope you are doing well.
According to its charter, the University Grants Commission (UGC) is mandated to take all efforts necessary for the promotion and coordination of university education, as well as for the setting and maintenance of standards in teaching, examination, and research at universities. Institutions that are deemed to be universities are designated by the Central Government, on the recommendation of the UGC, by a notice issued under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2016, which specify the criteria, standards, and eligibility requirements for declaring these institutions as universities, may be found at https://www.ugc.ac.in/pdfnews/2128779 DU Regulations-2016.pdf.
