English syllabus:

Section A

Reading:

Two prose passage, passage 1: factual (200 words), passage 2: literary (300 words)

Section B

Writing:

1. Letter writing: formal or informal

2. Paragraph writing

3. Composition


Section C

Reading:

1. Use of non finite verbs

2. Sentence connectors: as, since, while, then, just because, just, until

3. Clauses with what, where and how

4. Past tense

5. Modals: can, could, may, must, might


Section D

Prose:

1. Two reference to context questions

2. 1 out of 2 question from prose

3.  1 out of 2 questions from the drama text


Poetry:

1. One reference to the context questions

2. Two out of three short answer type questions

Supplementary reader:

1. One out of two long answer type questions

2. One out of two short answer type questions

3. One out of two short answer type questions




Maths syllabus:


1. Number Systems: real numbers

2. Algebra: polynomials, pair of linear equations in two variables, quadratic equations, arithmetic progressions

3. Trigonometry: introduction to trigonometry, trigonometric identities, heights and distances

4. Co-ordinate geometry: lines (in two dimensions)

5. Geometry: triangles, circles, constructions

6. Mensuration: areas related to circles, surface areas and volumes

7. Statistics and probability: statistics, probability



Science syllabus:

(Theory)

1. Chemical substances: Acids, Bases and salts, chemical reactions, metals and nonmetals, carbon compounds, periodic classification of elements

2. Word of living: life processes, control and coordination in animals and plants, reproduction, Heredity and evolution

3. Effects of current: electric current, magnets

4. Light: reflection and refraction

5. Natural resources: conservation of natural resources, the regional environment, sources of energy, our environment

(Practical)

1. To find the pH of the following samples by using pH paper or universal indicator:

(I) Dilute hydrochloric acid

(II) Dilute NaOH solution

(III) Dilute ethanoic acid solution

(IV) lemon juice

(V) water

(VI) Dilute sodium bicarbonate solution


2. To determine the focal length of a concave mirror and convex lens by obtaining the image of a distant object

3. To study the properties of acid and bases HCL and NaOH by their reactions with:
(I) litmus solution (blue and red)
(II) zinc metal
(III) solid sodium carbonate


4. To study the dependence of current (I) on the potential difference (V) across a resistor and determine its resistance. Also, plot a graph between V and I

5. To trace the path of a ray of light passing through a rectangular glass slab for different angles of incidence. Measure the angle of incidence, angle of refraction, angle of emergence and interpret the result

6. To determine the equivalent resistance of two resistors when connected in parallel

7. To determine the equivalent resistance of two resistors when connected in series

8. To show experimentally that light is necessary for photosynthesis

9. Tuition experimentally that carbon dioxide is given out during respiration

10. To prepare a temporary Mount of a leaf peel to show stomata

11. To study (a) binary fission in amoeba and (b) budding in yeast with the help of prepared slices

12. To perform and observe the following reactions and classify them into Combination Reaction, Decomposition Reaction, Displacement Reaction, and Double Displacement Reaction:

1. Action of water on quick lime

2. Action of heat on Ferrous Sulphate crystals

3. Iron Nails kept in copper sulphate solution

4. Reaction between Sodium sulphate and Barium chloride solutions


13. To determine the percentage of water absorbed by raisins

14. To study the following properties of acetic acid (ethanoic acid):

i) odour

ii) solubility in water

iii) effect on litmus

iv) reaction with sodium bicarbonate


15. a) To observe the action of Zn, Fe, Cu and Al metals on the following salt solutions:

i) ZnSO4 (aq.)

ii) FeSO4 (aq.)

iii) CuSO4 (aq.)

iv) Al2 (SO4)3 (aq.)


b) Arrange Zn, Fe, Cu and Al metals in the decreasing order of reactivity based on the above result




Social science syllabus:

Unit 1: India and the contemporary world- II: nationalism in Europe, nationalist movement in Indo-China; factors leading to the growth of nationalism in India, nationalism in India; civil disobedience movement, industrialization 1850s to 1950s, urbanization and urban lives, trade and globalisation, print culture and nationalism, history of the novel


Unit 2: India resources and their development: resources and its types, forest and wildlife resources, natural resources, agriculture, water resources, mineral resources, power resources, manufacturing industries, transport communication and trade


Unit 3: Democratic politics II: power sharing mechanism in democracy, working of democracy, competition and contestations in democracy, outcomes of democracy, challenges to democracy

Unit 4: Understanding economics II: the story of development, the role of service sector in Indian economy, money and financial system, globalisation, consumer awareness


Unit 5: Disaster management: Tsunami, safer construction practices, survival skills, alternate communication systems during disasters, sharing responsibility
