There will surely be a variation in the cut-offs. Even though the cut-off rankings change every year, this year makes it tougher to approximate rankings as the pattern has changed.
When the total marks were 800, anything above 550 was able to get a candidate their desired branch. As the total marks have changed to 240 this time, the MET score for a candidate is expected to be 160+, to be on the safe side. Moreover, CSE's previous year cut-off went up to 1100, this year it might be somewhere below 1000.
Considering the above factor and in addition to other factors like the total no. of candidates, the difficulty level of the exam, no. of seats available in a particular, etc, make it highly unpredictable to exact a rank this year.
Rest be assured if your preparation for the exam was spot-on, you are sure to secure a good rank.
Assumptions based on the previous cut-off rankings will only confuse you further.
