The eligibility criteria for UPSC is that the age limit must be 21-32 years old . The candidates must have passed graduation in any area. The maximum number of attempts for general category is 6, obc-9 sc/st- no limit.
UPSC is divided into three parts namely
- Prelims
- Mains
- Interview
For the prelims you need to have an overview of the syllabus. You need not study each and everything deeply but a basic knowledge of the concepts is required. For mains, the level gets much higher. You need to study the optional you choose to almost your masters level. Refer MA and BA books for the preparation of the same. The interview will test various aspects of your personality and qualities such as diplomatic skills, communication skills, presence of mind, reaction to stress and pressure, etc.
To score good marks in UPSC you need to follow a few tips
- Do not overdo a particular topic because the syllabus of UPSC is vast.
- You should know what part of syllabus is important and what is not.
- Make a proper time table and schedule for the whole day.
- After completing your syllabus, try to solve question papers to get an idea of the scheme of questions.
