Hello Vivek, Yes it is same... the only different thing is UPSC IES exam applicable for only enginnering candidates, whereas UPSC IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS applicable for all graduate candidates (including engineering students)

YES, it is the same for everyone regardless of their qualification. However, the optional subjects have to be chosen. there are various subjects ranging from history, geography, political science to medicine, psychology etc out of which only 2 subjects have to be chosen.
so you can choose the subjects of your interest and take guide books for them accordingly. the prescribed books are genrally ncert standard books and toher books.

Hello Vivek, yes it's same for all the students. But you have option to choose your optional subject from your course . There are two optional paper which is based on the subject you have chosen. You can choose physics , chemistry, math or also the subject of any other stream.But during interview they will ask you some questions related to your stream.
