Hello Ketul
The Indian Institutes of Technology will offer, on average 500 seats to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) candidates from the 2019-20 academic year, reported Hindustan Times. The move follows the Centre’s introduction of 10% reservations in jobs and educational institutions to economically weaker sections in January 2019. According to the tech school officials, this year most of the 23 IITs will implement on average around 4% EWS seats in IITs for this academic year against 10% of the quota.
This year, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi will have an overall increase of 105 seats. IIT Delhi will be implementing 5.6% EWS quota while IIT Madras implement 4% EWS quota this year. IIT Kharagpur is likely to reserve 3% of seats for EWS candidates. The HRD Ministry has asked educational institutions to add more seats to accommodate the quota.
