Dear Smit, NTA has opened the correction window last month for eligible EWS Candidates to change their Category from General Category to EWS. So if you have opted for EWS during that period, you should select EWS during registration and  during counselling, you will be given preference under EWS Category. But if you missed the chance of changing your Category by May 31st, though you might be eligible for EWS reservation, because you didnt opt for it during correction window, it doesnt make any difference if you select EWS as your Category during registration because there will be discrepancy in the selections of your Category and you might be held accountable.
