Hello Hemant,
Sodium Borohydride (NaBH 4 ) is a white to grayish crystalline powder. Sodium borohydride is an inorganic sodium salt and a metal tetrahydridoborate.
Sodium borohydride is a really good reducing agent, very effective for the reduction of aldehydes and ketones to alcohols. It is also used in the second step of the oxymercuration reaction to replace mercury (Hg) with H.
Hope this helps you. We wish you the best for your future endeavours!
Regards
The main application of sodium boro hydride is in the production of sodium dithionite.Sodium dithionite is used as a bleaching agent for wood pulp and in the dyeing industry. Sodium borohydride reduces aldehydes and ketones to give the related alcohols.
