With this query, I feel you want to know about the full counseling procedure.
Once the NEET results are out, you get a rank that is called the All India Rank. You can think of this rank as your name, you are going to be mentioned with this rank only. Then starts the counseling process. It begins with choice filling of seats. The Medical counseling committee opens its site and allows the candidates to fill colleges of their choice according to their preference. Once the choices are locked, seat allotment process begins. In the first round seat gets allotted account to your rank and preferences. Now, you can have 2 scenarios here, you get the seat, you download the allotment letter and report to whatever college you are allotted with all the relevant documents and then get yourself admitted. In case you are not allotted any college you wait for the next round and then again fill the choices. Now in case you get a seat allotted and are not satisfied with it, you can choose not to take that seat or you can even admit yourself there and then upgrade your choices in the next round. This way you can reserve your allotted seat in case you do not get any seat in the second round. After this there is the last round or the mop up round. All the left over seats are filled in this round.
