Hi, there are lot of Universities offering a courses  in B.ED through correspondence in India.

The eligibility criteria and admission process of distance B.Ed course is different from a regular B.Ed course and can also vary from college to college. Below mentioned are the basic eligibility criterions for all the universities in general, duration of the course and some of the top universities offer B.Ed distance course.

In order to get admission you have to fill the application form for the respective colleg(s), meet the eligibility/qualification requirements of the university and appear for the entrance test and pass with equal or more marks than the set cutoff for each category in respective universities(if admission is done through entrance test) and then wait for the results and if your name appears in the merit list, you will have fulfill further requirements or processes as per the university.

The eligibility criteria of B.Ed distance education course is:

  • The applicants must have at least 50% marks in Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Arts, Science, Commerce and Engineering streams in order to apply for distance B.Ed course.
  • Candidates who wish to take up distance B.Ed must be trained in-service teachers in elementary education.
  • Candidates who have completed teacher education programme recognised by NCTE in a face-to-face mode are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have at least two years of teaching experience in primary or upper primary schools can also take up distance B.Ed course.

The duration of the distance B.Ed course is similar to the regular B.Ed course. The total duration of the distance B.Ed course is two years and the candidates will be given a maximum of five years to complete the course.

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned above are granted admission in distance B.Ed course. Most universities like IGNOU, Andhra University, Annamalai University etc. conduct entrance exam for the admission to distance B.Ed course. The admission will be completely based on the score obtained by the candidates in the admission/ entrance test.
