Dear Rajiv, to answer your question in short, yes it is important to correct your Category from General to EWS if you are eligible. NTA has opened the correction window so as to allow eligible candidates benefit from EWS reservation. If you want to avail these benwfits, you need to correct yoir Category. However if you do not want to be considered under EWS Category, you neednt change your Category and you will be considered under General Category as usual.

Dear aspirant,

I would like to inform you that it is very important to fill up you right category in the form so as to ensure that you can get full benefit of your category for reservation.

If you fill general category then you'll be considered unreserved and if eligible for counseling you'll be alloted a seat accordingly.

If you would have filled general EWS,  then,  if there are states and colleges, where this category gets benefit, you would also have got benefit. But now, if you haven't then you won't be able to avail those benefits.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask any further queries.

All the best.

Hello Rajiv,

If you belong to general ews section and if you've applied as a general candidate instead of general ews then it is not a problem at all.

The only thing which could be proved as a drawback for you is the concession in cutoff for different colleges.

It will be quite higher for general category students than ews students. Other than that, you'll not face any problem if that doesn't matter much to you.

Hope it helped.. :)
