During peristalsis, the water from the undigested food that travels through digestive system is mainly absorbed by the walls of small intestines and reabsorbed by the large intestines. The water and nutrients from the digested food is absorbed through the small intestines into the bloodstream. The waste material has to be flushed out by the intestines.
Hello Shivani!
There are two kinds of intestine in our digestive tract : s mall intestine and large intestine . After the digestion of food, it has to be absorbed by the body. Small intestine is responsible for digesting and absorbing nutrients.
The remaining undigested food then goes to large intestine. Undigested food contains lots of water which are absorbed by large intestine before excretion.
Hope this helps!
