we have to clear entrance exam for MBA or not?

Getting into best colleges for MBA without an entrance exam is highly unlikely. When I say best MBA colleges, I refer to top 50 B-Schools in India. However, there are many private universities and colleges that conduct their own entrance exams other than CAT/XAT/NMAT/SNAP. There are still some private universities that intake students without even conducting an entrance exam. Yes, you heard it right, but you might have to compensate with the quality of the college and your investments might be in danger.

Before moving forward, let me walk you through to some of the facts of entrance exams. IIMs only accept CAT scores. PGDM B-Schools accept 6 national tests such as, CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, ATMA or GMAT. Top private universities like NMIMS, SIMB conduct their own exams. Many private universities like Amity University, Shiv Nadar etc hold their own test number of times in a year and you can take them at any time after application.

However, there are many colleges that do not fall within top 100 B-Schools offer MBA without conducting any entrance exam so that their seat quota is filled. Do not fall in the sweet talks of admission agents or consultants who guarantee of getting you an admission.

Below mentioned lists will help you to keep a track on the colleges that offer MBA directly without conducting any entrance exams.

So, if you think that without entrance exams, you cannot pursue your MBA, think otherwise. There are many colleges in major cities such as, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad where MBA without entrance exam is not required. But I would suggest that if you are trying for an MBA degree, go for the top B-Schools of the country. Top government and private colleges are brands that companies want to go in and hire and not the colleges whose name they haven’t even heard of. Hence, I would suggest to try giving entrance exams. A lot of students have a notion that the only entrance exam for MBA is CAT. But, in actual, there are many other universities who have an equally good calibre as IIMs if not better. The good news about the admission in these private and top-notch universities is that, they might not ask for your CAT score as they accept other national and university entrance exam score.
