JEE Main 2025: Preparation Guide | High Scoring Topics | Study Plan 100 Days
Hello Shyam,
Your basics in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics should be very clear upto 12th std. You should read the NCERT books for basics. Then HC Verma for Physics, RD Sharma for Mathematics, OP Tendon for Physical & Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry of "Arihant Publication" for detail or extra knowledge.
You should also try to solve the previous years question papers, this helps too much and you should also give the mock test to rectify yourself and build your confidence level.
For preparation of exam, the most important thing is your confidence after that you should know the whole syllabus and make your plan properly for learning new chapters, solving the numericals and revision. All three things should be the part of your preparation strategy in daily routine.
The main thing is that you have to build your concentration level, then only you can stay focused on your goal. I would like to say that please limit the study time between 10 to 12 hours and please increase your concentration and speed of reading, understanding and solving the problems then you will not face any kind of difficulty.

All the best for your examination.
For preparation of JEE Mains and Advance :-
- First things first prepare a timetable. Set targets for each day. Allot specific chapters for each subject for a day. Also complete the targets so you are not pressurised in future. If any doubt arises in any concept or numerical , clear it at that point of time itself. Clearing the doubts are very important, as the number of doubts could pile up and then student gets confused.
- Create a set of chapters which you would complete in a month. Prepare to finish the syllabus in such a way that there are still 2-3 months to revise everything.
- It is important to study every subject and to give time to every subject. Some students, for their not liking of a subject, don't study that subject enough and lose marks unnnecessariliy. To avoid this , proper planning must be done. If a student finds a particular subject difficult than the other then more time must be given to difficult subject.
- Now , for studying on a daily basis, take breaks between 1-2 hours depending upon you so that you do not get exhuasted too much.
- The books to start from for JEE are NCERT Textbooks of 11th and 12th standards of Physics, Mathematics and Chemsitry. This textbook will help you clear the concepts.
- Other than NCERT Textbooks of 11th and 12th standards a student is also required to practice problems and have a deep understading of the subject which can be obtained by some good reference books. Students tend to refer every good book available for JEE but this is not right. Choose 2-3 books and do it fully.
- Reference books are as follows :- (Note :- You can refer can of these according to from which textbook you would understand better).
For Physics :- Concepts of Phsyics by H.C Verma. Volume 1 and 2 ; Fundamental of Physics by Halliday , Resnick ; Objective Questions on physics by D.C Pandey ; Numerical Physics IE Irodov.
For Chemistry :- Chemsitry is divided as Inorganic , Organic and Physical.
- For Physical Chemistry :- Physical Chemistry by. O.P Tandon ; Numerical Chemistry by R.C Mukherjee.
- For Organic Chemistry :- Organic Chemistry by O.P Tandon ; Organic chemistry by T.W Graham Solomons ; Organic chemistry by Morrison and Boyd.
- For Inorganic Chemistry :- Inorganic chemistry by O.P Tandon ; Inorganic chemistry by J.D Lee.
For Mathematics :- R.D Sharma standard 11th and 12th ; Trignometry by S.L Loney ; Co-ordinate Geometry by S.L Loney ; Higher Algebra by Hall and Knight ; Problems in Calculus of one variable by I.A Maron.
There are other books than these too for JEE. But you can prefer these over others. Also it would be good for a student if he/she chooses minimum number of reference books but the best and sufficient.
After you finish each chapter , solve multiple choice quesiions based on that chapter on that day itself or in that week itself. It helps to build concepts even stronger.
- In Physics , understanding the concepts is very important. Knowing only formulas doesn't help in Physics. Ofcourse formulas are necessary but concepts are too. Solve numericals as many as you can.
- In organic Chemistry, there are many types of reactions which can only be remembered by writing them everday. Start from the basic ones then go on to the tough ones.
- In Mathematics , the questions can be asked from a combination of two or more chapters. So aim to prepare every chapter.
Solve past year papers. Get familiar with the type of questions. Give mock tests to get to know about where mistakes are happening so that you can avoid them in the entrance exam.
Practice with time. Sometimes student take too much time for each question due to which they are unable to complete the paper. That's the reason it is important to know how to manage time during exam.
Also prepare handwritten notes. Notes of formulas if made separately helps to revise before exam.
Time is limited but there shouldn't be place for stress as it only causes more problems.
