Some students who are not interested in it they change their field from metallurgy to management field by getting campus placement in management field or After doing MBA. Metallurgy engineering have many jobs in psu companies that are Coal India limited, ISRO, DRDO, GAIL etc. PSU provide very good package. You will get 66000 in hand salary and other incentive also like HRA, DRA, etc. Metallurgy engineers also work in thermal power plants . There are many private companies who higher Metallurgy engineers and pay good salary if you are from IIT, NIT. The starting salary in private sector is less but in private sector the growth is more and pay will be more after experience of 4-5 year. Where as in public sector the starting pay is more but the growth is steady. You salary after 4-5 years will be less than private sector employee. But you have good perks in psu in starting carrier.
