if your percentile is above 9.0 then you can apply in almost all the companies visiting your college in your field, FOR GETTING AN EXTRAORDINARY PACKAGE BE A TOPPER THERE...ALSO INCREASE YOUR COMUNICATION SKILLS TO PERFORM BETTER IN THE INTERVIEW

Is it very tough to get a 9 CGPA..I heard people saying it's very difficult..can I get that if I'm a hard working average student?

Bhadra Nair if you are consistent and a hardworking person...you will surely get a good CGPA.
One of my cousin has studied from vit chennai...he was a student of CSE(BTECH)....he told me that it is very important to be have a good repo in front of teachers and the management because they have the authority to manipulate your marks...so try participating in extra curricular activities atleast for the first two years so that teachers and staff knows you well...!!!
