For non-Karnataka residents these are the eligibility criterias:

• Candidates whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava must have resided and studied for a duration of 7 years between 1st and 12th standards in disputed Kannada speaking area of South Sholapur or Akkalkot or Jath or Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharashtra State or Kasargod or Hosadurga Taluks of Kerala State. Such candidates will have to undergo and clear the Kannada Language test.

• Candidates who have studied for complete 10 academic years in Kannada language from 1st to 10th standard outside Karnataka need not appear for the Kannada Language Test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Such candidates must have studied and passed the qualifying exam from any recognised educational institution.

Kindly note that KCET is conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility/merit,for admission of Karnataka candidates including wards of jammu and kashmiri migrants to the first year or first semester of full time courses.
