Hello Nidhi,

Various entrance exams are held in India every year for admission to the undergraduate course in architecture B. Arch. Most of these exams are all India level but some of them are state level too.

You can give following exams for admission to the B.Arch degree course -

JEE B.Arch: Sit for this exam for admission to top NITs and SPAs.

NATA: For entrance to all other reputed state, government and private architecture colleges that don't accept the JEE exam rank or score.

STATE CETs: If your state conducts CET exam in architecture you may appear for that too, though it 'll be only for your state colleges that offer the course in architecture.  You can even appear for other states CET if there is a provision.

Some of the state level CET exams are -

IPUCET (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test)

UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination)

KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test)

TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test)

COMEDK UGET (COMEDK UG Entrance Test forB. Arch)

KEAM (B.Arch) (Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical Exam)

AMU B. Arch: Aligarh Muslim University conducts the exam for admission in course of Bachelor of Architecture in the same University. To sit for this exam you need to have passed the 12th examination with a minimum aggregate of 50%.

TNEA B.Arch: Anna University takes admission to 5 years (10 Semester) B.Arch. Degree Programme offered at University Department of Anna University.

DASA (B.Arch): Admissions are open under Direct Admissions for Students Abroad (DASA) mode for Undergraduate students. DASA or Direct Admission of Students Abroad is a scheme by the HRD Ministry for admissions to premium Indian institutes offering Engineering/ Management/ Architecture/ Programs in the UG as well as the PG Level.

GRE: GRE for masters in architecture is necessary only if you want to study in the US and for particular courses. That too, it weighs only 10–15% of your application. Rest is taken by your portfolio(up to 50%), your statement of purpose & references, followed by GPA.

These are more or less all the possible exams you can sit for the course that you mentioned.

Now coming to the preparation, if you are aiming for the IIT’s and other top colleges then prepare for jee paper-1 then JEE advance and then AAT.

For any entrance exam of architectural studies, you should be well prepared for sketching, perceptive views, and color compositions.

NATA and JEE Mains are somewhat different from each other. According to me, JEE Mains gives you multiple options to get a high score.

For JEE Mains, practice maths from any coaching or tutor and buy a guide book for the aptitude part that you favor and prepare yourself for the last three questions from a reliable source. This will also help you in NATA.

Stay focused and devote at least 4 - 6 hours for the prep daily. Invest more time in preparation and you will definitely get a prestigious institute.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!
