Hi, hope you are doing well.
Some essential lab techniques for biotechnologist are:
1. Tissue culture- growth of cells or tissues by using a broth or agar.
2. PCR(Polymerase Chain Reaction)- Used to make many copies of a region of DNA in vitro.
3. Gel electrophoresis- for separating biological macromolecules according to electrophoretic mobility.
4. Western blot- for detecting and analysing proteins.
5. ELISA(Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay)
6. Molecular (Gene) cloning
7. Flow cytometry- laser or impedance based technique used in cell counting and many more
8. Mass spectroscopy
9. Confocal microscopy- optical imaging technique for increasing optical resolution
10. Cell- based assays
Some of the skills required are:
1. Ability to handle large datasets.
2. Think analytically and solve problems critically
