Previously there were State Level Entrance exams where in every State had its own fair share of MBBS seats for its domiciled States. And Students had a free hand towards Private Medical Colleges of other States too. But ever since NEET has been the sole entrance exam, Candidates who want to study in other States have no previous share. So this is where 15% All India Quota comes into picture. 15% of the MBBS seats from all the States except Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are contributed to a central pool. Students of a particular State who do not have the domicile of another State but are willing to study in that State can apply through this 15%. So for example, if you belong to Telangana but want to studY in Kerala, you can apply through 15% All India Quota. So this is always a pro. But the only catch here being higher cut offs due to limited MBBS seats.Apart from this Deemed/Central Universities also participate in All India Counselling giving all the Students a fair chance. Now AIIMS and JIPMER also will be filled through All India Quota. Now looking at all this, All India Quota is only a boon. But if you ask which is feasible, that cannot be answered because under 85% State Quota, you also have a chance at Private Medical Colleges of your State but under All India Quota, you cannot try for Private Medical Colleges of other States. After all the rounds of counselling are over, the left over Management seats are filled through Direct admission and only then can you try for a seat. In few States the State cut offs are higher than the All India Cut offs and in few States the cut offs are lesser. So it depends on the State that you belong to and the Category you belong to.
