Hello there,
SI units is an abbreavation for System International Units.
It is globally accepted set of units used for defining problems or parameters for consistency in the research works across various countries.
Most of the institutions teach in the SI units while industries follow FPS system of units and in some cases, they may also use SI units.
For Example:
In SI system of units, the length is measured in Meter, while in FPS, it is measured in feet. Similarly there are different norms for system of units in SI for Temperature, time, mass, current, luminosity, amount of substance etc.
While these are fundamental units, there are different units for the derived units also in SI system of units..
I hope i have answered the query..
Good Luck!!!
Hello Farzana Begum , From some research on internet about SI unit I found that it is basically called standard units of measurement which is define by International System of Units (SI). For example meter (m) the SI unit of length, kilogram (kg) SI unit of mass , etc.
Hope it will be helpful for you :)
Dear ASpirant ,
SI or ‘Systeme Internationale’ is the International System of Units which is a system of physical units ( SI units ) based on the 7 base units; metre, kilogram, second, ampere, kelvin, candela, and mole, together with a set of prefixes to indicate multiplication or division by a power of ten. This global standard is set by International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) which is headquartered in Paris.
There are many SI units used for both the fundamental /basic or derived physical quantities. However if you know the basic units which are 7 in number, you can infer all other units easily and they are ;
Meter, kilogram ,second ,kelvin ,ampere, candela and mole
Some of the derived units are;
joule, newton ,watt ,pascal, coulomb. (Full name of unit never begins with capital letters ) ,
Hope this information helps you ,
THANK YOU .
