Hi
Mechanical engineering have a vast scope. However, the job opportunities may be limited for mechanical engineering graduates, but it can increase by more specialization in the field itself. There are areas such as aerospace, automobile, research etc where mechanical engineers are needed.
The job opportunities which is related to mechanical engineering are-
Aerospace engineer
Nuclear engineer
Mechanical engineer
Automotive engineer
Researcher
Chemical manufacturer
Thanks
As a mechanical engineer, here are somethings that can be considered as a future scope
A lot of mechanical engineers are being deployed into the Air force and Indian Navy through the University entrance scheme as engineers. So the future looks bright since our defense sector is slowly improving with a lot of funds being pumped into it.
A lot of these mechanical engineers can shift to aerospace or operations research which is a part of industrial engineering and management. Google both OR and IEM and you will get an idea. You will find jobs in the aviation industry working as designers or even in the quality and logistics department. A good example is NASA or ISRO for space research.
They can also branch into the field of MEMS or microelectromechanical systems which is the hot topic of today and nanotechnology.
Robotics. With the world moving towards more and more automation, robotics is a field that will never die. Mechanical engineers are responsible for the kinematics part (a subject that you will learn in 4th semester so pay attention, i did not :P almost failed it) without which the robot cannot move. The future looks good there as well!
Structures. Well, we learn a bit about this also, hence moving into a structures field should not be a problem.
FEA - the MOST sought after jobs in today’s world are those of FEA. Make sure you are good with math and also understand the basic principles of mechanics and you will be a hot cake in the market.
Bio engineering.
Last, but not the least - teaching. This is something that will never die!
So this scope is not an exhaustive list. You can keep adding more and more.
