The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability that have been acquired over a long period of time, and that are related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.
Admission Process:
Admission to the B.Architecture programme is based on the merit of marks obtained in National Aptitude Test in Architecture and School +2.
The basic qualifications for admission are:
No candidate with less than 50% marks in aggregate shall be admitted to the architecture course unless he/she has passed an examination at the end of the new 10+2 scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as subjects of examination at the 10+2 level or 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks or International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.
Eligibility:
Pass in NATA exam i.e 80 marks out of 200.
50 % marks in 10+2 with mathematics as compulsory subject.
Architecture is mother of all arts because every technique related to other trades are being used when we construct any structure or building. Now every body knows about the field of Architecture as we are passing through a revolutionary period as far as building design and industry is concerned.
There are three main exams one need to take for taking admission in B.Arch.
JEE - Covers all IITs, NITs and central govt. funded institutes
NATA - For private colleges and universities across India
State University and private university entrance tests
Before preparing you need to first decide which is target competitive exam for you. All these three exams have different pattern and marking criteria. Syllabus is more or less same having Mathematics, Aptitude Test & Drawing Test as major sections. The weightage and scoring pattern is different.

If you are a meritorious student and sure you can compete among lacs of students to make room for your self in few thousand seats available in govt. colleges put all your effort in JEE. If not then look for private colleges and their previous year cutoff for NATA score and state university entrance exams. Now a days private colleges are also as good as IITs in terms of education and exposure. The major difference between govt. colleges and private college is the fee structure. In govt. colleges which are covered in JEE you can complete your entire 5 year course in INR 50,000 to 1.5 Lac including hostel fee etc. On the other hand in NATA covered private college INR 1.5 Lac is fee for each semester plus hotel and living. Some private colleges also have lower fees like 75,0000 per semester. State funded govt. colleges have fees requirements form INR 5,000 to 35,000 per semester.
