Hello,

DISADVANTAGES:

  1. It is one of the highest paid core engineering discipline but in our country most of the people (including some chemical engineering student as well) are not aware of this fact and these fellows see it as somehow inferior to other branches. NOT TRUE AT ALL.
  2. People often get confused that it is related to chemistry only ( Because of the name maybe ) but it has a vast curriculum which includes heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics etc. And chemistry is just a part of it.
  3. Many engineering colleges in India don't offer Chemical Engineering so many are not even aware that such a branch exists also how reputed it is on a global level.
  4. Placement scenario in some of the colleges is also not healthy (if you compare it with IT/CS ) but this is because a chemical engineer is highly paid designation so not all companies can afford a chemical engineer.
  5. Many are also not aware of the plethora of applications and opportunities this branch can offer. ( Another Reason for point number 4 )

ADVANTAGES :

1.The major advantages are chemical engineers are called universal engineers ..u can know everything that is happening in wether like humidity …temparature…cyclones earth quakes etc

2.and u can relate every function of human body WTH what u ll study in chemical engineering.because we deal with pumps(heart) flow of liuides and gases (blood flow) micro ,nano, ultra filtaration (liver ,and kidneys ) and we deal with reactions (many are happening in our body ) …u can understand human anatomy so easily after doctors.

3.coming to technicalties …..job opportunities are huge in India and gulf .you can work in pharmaceutical companies , fertilizers, petrochemical refineries , oil and gas extractions .

4. As many people say chemical engineering is about dealing with chemicals in lab we will never get exposed to any sort of chemicals unless you are working in pharmaceutical company.

5. chemical engieering is one of the highly paid professions .with 3–4 years experience you can earn more then 18–20 lakhs per annum in MNC's of major petrochemical refineries and if you are associated with oil and gas extraction you can earn more then 25 LPA.

6.irrespective of salary ….you will definitely get job if you have minimum knowledge about the core subjects .

7.most of the oil and gas companies will keep you for 15 days on shore and 15 days you can spend your time with your family in home.

Chemical engineers work in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, design and construction, pulp and paper, petrochemicals, food processing, specialty chemicals, microelectronics, electronic and advanced materials, polymers, business services, biotechnology, and environmental health and safety industries.

I hope this would help you. For further queries please feel free to write me down in the comment box.
