Hello,

Let's start with the pros of getting a CS branch in VIT Vellore:

CSE department of VIT is one of the finest CSE department just after top IITs,IIIT Hyderabad, BITS Pilani & maybe top 3 NITs and is well respected in corporate India. CSE in VIT has produced great students who are leading in best of MNCs & also some pursuing higher studies in top US universities. VIT really boost research & have industry based course structure.

VIT has a great coding culture.. if you get involved in it, it can really help you grow technically better. VIT has a great start up ecosystem & people working on ideas like Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence can really make a difference in shaping the future of the tech world.VIT has a great placement for CSE & getting a super dream package (above 10lpa upto 30lpa) is not very difficult if you work hard and this is a very good pay to start your career Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Cisco, De shaw, eBay, Sap labs, Code nation, Mckinsey, Intel, Qualcomm,Adobe, Texas Instruments, Nutanix etc do visit our campus on regular basis.

Now let's move to the other side of coin, the disadvantages:

The academic pressure will be high. The coursework can really make you feel that it's time to quit. The number of students will be very high so. Newspapers will cover students from IITs getting overseas placement worth 1–1.5crore & you may feel down but don't worry you are in a decent place and you too can make a great progress from VIT.

Overall VIT has more pros than cons and it's a great place and a headstart for your career.

It's worth it. But consider your position properly before deciding. It's fees is high too. If I had to choose between taking a drop and VIT I would go for VIT. There's not much to lose except high fees. It's better than many NITs and GFITs.
