What are the advantages of a triple major over a honours degree? Which one is a better option?
Hello,
When you take two courses at the same time, whether it’s in the same college or two different ones, then we say that you’re pursuing a double-major. This is different from studying a dual-degree, in which case a student is awarded two majors, each to a different degree. Similarly, you can opt to study a triple-major, which means three subjects that will count towards the award of one degree or three different degrees.“What are the benefits of getting a triple major degree?”- In the US, the benefit may be greater initial employability, if your fields are in demand. But, it depends. Unless the 3 majors are closely related, it would - or should - be very demanding. The usual practice is to major in one and minor in a couple others. Many people drop double-majors by the time they get to the tough courses. As for benefits, it might be a triple-ticket for some particular field of work that you want. Say theatre/music/dance, or design/painting/ceramics, or history/journalism/poli-sci. The workload to complete such combos would be very heavy. I encourage you to pick one as a major and the others as minors. Remember, you don’t really need a course to study a subject you just want to know. You can read anything. If you’re trying to backstop employability too much, you may give up direction and depth.
Hope it helped.
