Here I have also provided some guidance for CAT exam with section wise books for better understanding.
One of the major sticking points is on what strategy they should adopt while preparing to have absolute mastery on the verbal section. It should also be noted that there is no one size fits all strategy available for students as a whole and each and every one has to have a customized strategy of their own to be successful in their endeavour.
The below-mentioned tips would be helpful for you to score maximum out of the so-called section:
(1.) Before starting, you have to known your strength and weakness. To do this, take a diagnostic mock CAT test. This will tell you your strong areas and weak areas across all the sections.
CAT mock tests books-
CAT 2017 -27 Topic-wise & Year-wise (Solved Papers 1990-2016)(Amazon)
CAT Topic-wise Solved Papers (1994-2016) with 6 Online Practice Sets(Flipkart)
(2.) Make a short horizon plan (daily or weekly) and long horizon (till CAT) plan. You can check a idol CAT exam plain also. (You can make some changes in time table according to your needs)
(3.) Divide the number of chapters (or concepts/ syllabus) by the number of days in which you want it to cover.
Quantitative Aptitude:
In QA section, you should keep in your mind 70/30 rule. According to this thumb rule, approximately 70% of the questions in Quant come from 30% of the chapters, viz., Number System, Geometry, Time Speed Distance, Ratio proportion, Function/graphs, Equations, and Permutation and combination. If you are able to get even 3/4th of these questions correct, you will get 92+ percentile in QA. But did`t forget to prepare for these important chapters until you not confidant enough.
Try to solve questions in short time with the help of tricks.
Best Books for QA:
However mostly candidates go with Arun sharma or Nishit Sinha and no doubts both are good books to clear basic as well as to do practice. But if you are willing to learn short tricks then either join any good institute or find a book or follow notes.
You can follow Class Notes of Maths by Rakesh Yadav, this notes are very help to learn short tricks of QA which will help you in saving time in exam hall.
