Research in streams like Biomedical Technology, Biomaterials, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Clinical Technology, Drug Design and Discovery, and Immunology have a huge scope and research potential in India. So other than MBBS and BDS, an aspirant after graduating from university can perhaps go for Doctoral Education at one of the Top Medical Technology or BioTechnology Schools in India, like Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras, SMST IIT Kharagpur or IISC Bangalore for a Full Time Ph.D in one of the above research subjects followed by an interesting career in Research or Academics.
This is one career option which can perhaps provide you with the same reputation and growth as a MBBS or BDS. Other career options can be PGDM (Healthcare and Family Welfare) after Bachelors, from autonomous institutes like NIHFW New Delhi and perhaps a career in Healthcare and Hospital Welfare Management, or if interested in Management, a full time MBA can also be a good decision, seeing a rise in the number of Medical Entrepreneurs these days.
Other than these usual options like a Bachelors/Masters in Chemistry or Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Technology and Research from Top Institutes like Top IITs, BITS Pilani, Manipal University are always an options with the rising demand in this field and companies like Cipla, Pfizer, Sun Pharma, Piramal Healthcare, Dr Reddys once again blooming in India. As far as Chemistry is concerned, you can even join National Research Cadres like BARC, NML, NCL or DRDO after graduating. A Degree in Chemistry has huge career scope and prospects and you can even secure an Associate Degree (AMIE/Indian Institute of Metals/IICHe) in Engineering Branches like Metallurgical or Chemical after B.Sc/M.Sc. followed by Masters in Technology from some of the higher technical institutes like Top IITs and NITs.
