Bsc microbiology is an undergraduate course.
In this field, microbiologists identify the agents of infectious diseases and find out ways to combat them. Microbiology is the study of microorganisms, which are microscopic and cell-cluster organisms.
Field of microbiology also covers:
Virology
Bacteriology
Mycology , and
Parasitology
There are different types of microbiologists:
- agricultural microbiologists mainly focus on health of crops, increasing yield and soil fertility
- food and Dairy microbiology prevent microbial spoilage of food and fight food borne diseases.
- monitoring of water and food supplies is in hands of public health microbiologists.
- microbial ecologists mainly study habitats of microorganisms and develop methods to use microorganisms to combat pollution.
Eligibility criteria for BSC microbiology :
Class 12 with physics , zoology, chemistry, botany with 50%.
After completing BSC in microbiology you can apply for Msc microbiology courses like: medical/food/Industrial microbiology, forensics science etc.
