Merchant Shipping means trading in commercial commodities such as general cargo Industrial goods Oil Tanker Chemical Tanker, liquid cargo, live stocks, gas etc. Which are transported by sea going ships on International waters between various countries of the world.





Merchant Navy Eligibility Criteria for Both Male & Female:



Educational qualification:The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics.



AGE LIMIT:Candidate are required to satisfy the age limit criteria. They should be between 17-25 years of age when the course starts.



Candidate should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.



Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.



Candidates have to beunmarriedIndian citizens (male or female).



Admission is through anentrancefollowed by a screening test and a main written examination.



Girls can also join Merchant Navy. As there are many girls who are already in officer cadre of Merchant Navy. In India girls can apply through Indian Maritime University (IMU). IMU conduct exam every year to join Merchant Navy.



Eligibility Criteria:-



1)- You should have completed 12th class with science stream.

2)- You should have minimum 60% marks in 12th.

3)- You should be unmarried.

4)- Your age should be below 20 years.



Physical Requirements:-

1. Eye Sight = 6/6,

2. Height = 167 cms,

3. Weight = 50 Kg

4. Chest = 77 cm (Normal) / 82 cm (Expanding)

Here is the eligibility criteria for Merchant Navy



The eligibility for joining merchant navy is finishing class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.



Candidates have to be unmarried Indian citizens (male or female).



Normal vision is required but glasses up to plus or minus 2.5 may be allowed.



Admission is through an entrance followed by a screening test and a main written examination.



After clearing the test, there is an interview and a medical test.



You also need to complete a ship - training course prior to the employment. The course is generally short-term where the candidates are taught basic security concerns of voyaging.
