Aerospace engineering is the branch of engineering which deals with the designing and development of aircrafts and spacecrafts.

However aeronautical engineering is the field which deals with the designing and development of air flights or machines which operate within the earth atmosphere.

See, the basic difference is that Aerospace engineering is related to designing and building aircraft and spacecraft,whereas aeronautical engineering is related to designing the machines and devices that can be used with the Earth's atmosphere. The basic functions for both revolve around designing and creating of aircrafts but foe two different world.
