Dear keshav,

ComedK and kcet are very similar exams leading you to join colleges mentioned in your question. They differ in the fact that,

kcet- conducted by the Karnataka government and the cet fees for colleges is around 36,000. ( about 2 years, may be the same now). The admission to government colleges like UVCE and goverment aided courses like Electronics and communication in BMS cost you around 18,000. There are certain restrictions on other state students writing this exam like: the respective student must have studied at least 8 years in Karnataka or student's parents must have studied in Karnataka.

ComedK-conducted by private college associations and can grant admission to only private colleges in the comedK list. Other state students can get better access to private colleges through comedK. There are better opportunities for other state students and the rules are less stringent than kcet. The big hurdle in comedK is the fees for colleges is around 1,50,000. This is almost 4 times the kcet fees.

Other state students admission-As mentioned above the rules are less stringent with comedK than kcet. But if all the criteria are satisfied, it would be way better to join a college through kcet than comedK since you would be shelling out a large fees amount and remember the hostel fees and the college trust fees are above this payment. And for students for whom the criteria are not satisfied and your family can afford to pay the fees comedK would be better choice with less stringent rules.

Difficulty level: As far as the exams are considered, both of them score to be very similar, if I am not wrong it is 60 questions in 70 minutes for both the exams. The difficulty level is same for both, maybe in a year the kcet questions in one of the subjects P/C/M would be difficult. But on the overview both of them require same type of preparation, Look into the Karnataka PU syllabus and then prepare accordingly. If you are preparing for IIT-JEE and AIEEE, just concentrating on the residual chapters in PU syllabus would be more than sufficient since kcet/ComedK is a lot more easier than JEE.

Admission to Colleges-Though the difficulty level is same, getting a seat in the above mentioned colleges is more challenging through kcet than comedk.

The competition level in comedK is always lower and less challenging than kcet.

Since PESIT is now PESU, one has to write PESSAT, a seperate exam from PESU. The admission to other mentioned colleges like RVCE, BMSCE and MSRIT however can be through kcet and ComedK. BMSCE has ECE branch aided and if you get a good kcet rank the fees is only 18k/year. I beleive PESU also takes a small number of students through kcet (not sure about this, please check their website). So getting into these colleges through comedK is easier than kcet again this depends on the branch you are interested in.

Conclusion: if all the criteria are satisfied for both kcet and comedK, writing both the exams would give a lot of exposure and flexibility. One will gain a mock cet experience through comedK and also if you do not get the required seat through kcet, you'll always have an option open in comedK. Write both the exams and then decide on the college and the branch depending on your ranks in the exams. Happy studying.

Good luck.

These both are competitive exams which are required to take admission in Medical or Engineering Colleges of Karnataka.

KCET is reserved only for students of Karnataka which means you should produce documents of your study of atleast 7 years in Karnataka or You parents must be from Karnataka.(Children of Armed Forces have exception)

COMEDK is open for All Indian Students but the fee is higher in COMEDK (2015 batch: KCET-70k COMEDK-1.75L)

One advantage in COMEDK is they don't consider your board exam marks but you need to pass in all subjects.

I felt COMEDK exam was tougher but get good rank was easy and KCET was easier but getting a good rank was tough since the top students of KCET mostly don't apply for COMEDK and reservations in KCET is higher whereas in COMEDK there are only 5seats reserved for HK quota rest are GM.

Hey keshav , Greetings !

the main difference between COMEDK and KCET is that COMEDK is organised by private organisation ,while KCET is organised by government organisation . COMEDK is for consortium of Medical Engineering & Dental examination Karnataka whereas KCET is combined entrance test in karnataka . Dear aspirant,

These both are aggressive tests which are required to take affirmation in Medical or Engineering Colleges of Karnataka.

KCET is saved just for understudies of Karnataka which implies you should deliver archives of your investigation of atleast 7 years in Karnataka or You guardians must be from Karnataka.(Children of Armed Forces have exemption)

COMEDK is open for All Indian Students however the expense is higher in COMEDK (2015 bunch: KCET-70k COMEDK-1.75L)

One favorable position in COMEDK is they don't consider your board test stamps however you have to go in all subjects.
