UGC NET Exam : On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor (https://www.anujjindal.in/ugc-net-jrf-admit-card-eligibility-result/) only or Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor Both, in Indian Universities and Colleges.

CSIR NET: CSIR NET is conducted by NTA to shortlist aspirants for the award of JRF and eligibility of Assistant Professor for Science subjects only. UGC NET is conducted by NTA to select candidates for the award of JRF and eligibility of Assistant Professor for all other subjects (total 81).

UGC NET and CSIR NET both are conducted by National Testing Agency to recruitment the Assistant Professors/Lecturers and also candidates become eligible for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

The major difference between these two is UGC NET is conducted for all the subjects. However, CSIR NET is applicable for only science stream candidates.

There is difference is age limit too. For JRF, UGC NET upper limit is 30 years. However, CSIR NET only has 28 years.

CSIR NET Exam has only one paper of 3 hours while UGC NET has two papers with the time duration of 3 hours. Each paper of UGC NET has its own specific duration.

There are various differences b/w CSIR NET and UGC NET. Apart from their ultimate motive that these exams are being conducted for Assistant Professorship and JRF, nothing is similar in them.

The National Eligibility Tests such as UGC NET, CSIR NET, all 2entrance tests are initiated by the University Grants Commission.

From the very starting, the CSIR NET is conducted by CSIR itself and UGC NET was conducted by CBSE, it was earlier under the hat of UGC, but now UGC NET Exam will be conducted by NTA.

CSIR NET is specially designed for only those students who belong to Science Stream whereas UGC NET is for all other types of courses in India.

The Bachelor degree candidates holding qualification in B-Tech, BS, B-Pharm (4 Years Degree) can appear for CSIR NET JRF but to appear in UGC NET Exam, they must have valid Post-Graduation Degree.

The age limit for appearing in CSIR NET is 28 Years (General & OBC) or 33 Years (ST/SC/PWD) whereas, for UGC NET, it is 30 Years (General) or 35 Years (ST/SC/PWD/OBC).

There are 3 sections in CSIR NET Exam (Part A, Part B & Part C) whereas the UGC NET consists of 2 Papers (Paper 1 & Paper 2)

The number of appearing candidates is more in UGC NET as compared to CSIR NET.

CSIR UGC NET is conducted by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The exam consists of a written single MCQ paper of 200 marks. The exam is held for five subjects namely, Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences to determine the eligibility of Indian Nationals for appointment as Lecturers and for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). 6% of the total qualified candidates are shortlisted for the appointment. Candidates are awarded Junior Research Fellowship or Lectureship on the basis of their performance in the MCQ test. Candidates qualifying for JRF (NET), will also be eligible for Lectureship (NET) subjected to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by UGC. The candidates qualifying for Lectureship are eligible for recruitment as Lecturers as well as for JRF in a Scheme/Project.

Central Board of Secondary Education conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) on behalf of UGC to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the eligibility of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship & for the eligibility of Assistant Professor both in Indian Colleges. and Universities  The award of JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both or eligibility for Assistant Professor only will depend on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of NET in aggregate. However, qualifying for Assistant Professor will not be considered for award of JRF. The exam is held offline for almost all subjects of every stream. CBSE NET is scheduled to be held on July 8. The test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of 150 objective type questions for 300 marks.

CSIR UGC NET is conducted by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for determining the eligibility of candidates for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) NET and determining the eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subjects areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology. As per eligibility criteria, candidates must be have M.Sc or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates. B.Sc(Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates; 50% marks for SC/ST, Persons with disability (PwD) candidates are also eligible to apply. Candidates having Bachelor’s degree only shall not be eligible for Lectureship. The single paper MCQ based test is held under CSIR UGC NET. The exam carries 200 marks. As per the syllabus, Part 'A' is common to all subjects. This part contain questions pertaining to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc. Part 'B' contain subject related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the Subject Marks. Part 'C' contain questions that test a candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts.

National Eligibility Test commonly known as NET is a national level exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC). The exam is conducted for determining the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or both in Indian Universities and colleges. The test is held twice in a year – July and November. Candidates who have completed their post graduation are eligible to apply for NET. NET 2018 is scheduled to be conducted on July 8 across 91 cities spread throughout the country. The test is conducted offline in 100 subjects comprising of two papers – Paper I and II. Both the papers consists of objective type questions. NET 2018 admit card will be released in the third week of June. The answer key will be released by the exam conducting authority in the fourth week of August, 2018. NET result for July session is likely to be declared in November 2018. Selection of candidates for Assistant Professor and JRF are done on the basis of a candidate’s performance in two papers. The eligibility criteria for CBSE NET is given below:

• Candidates who have secured at least 55 % (General) and 50 % (OBC, SC, ST, PwD) in post graduation or equivalent examination in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc are eligible to apply.

• Candidates pursuing or have appeared for their post graduation examination and results are awaited can also apply

• Transgender can also apply for the exam and they will be provided relaxation for age and qualifying criteria as per SC, ST, PwD categories.

• Ph.D candidates who have completed their post graduation by September 19, 1991 are eligible for relaxation of 5 % in aggregate marks for appearing in NET.

• Candidates can apply for their subjects of post graduation only.

• The age of candidates applying for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) should not be more than 30 years. 5 % relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to OBC, SC, ST, PwD, Transgender and Women.

• There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor.

UGC NET and CSIR NET exams have differences in various terms. UGC NET Exam is conducted by the University Grants Commission while CSIR NET exam is conducted by Human Resource Development Group (HRDG) of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR).
