Hello,

Different causes of biodiversity loss are as follows :

  1. Destruction of Habitat : This is happening due to expanding population, development of more industrial areas, urbanization , more area under agriculture etc.
  2. Habitat Fragmentation : This is resulting in decrease of core area and increase of edge area.
  3. Over Exploitation : Reduces the size population of species and this results in them becoming endangered or vulnerable. Eg - overgrazing, hunting
  4. Invasion by exotic species : Introduction of exotic species may cause extinction of native species due to absence of natural predator. Eg Water hyacinth
  5. Coextinctions : Some obligatory mutual relationships exists in nature, extinction of any one will cause extinction of the other naturally. Eg -Pronuba yuccasella nad Yucca

Hope this helps
