Hello Student ,

DIFFERENT TYPES OF VECTOR

  • Equal Vector : Two vectors are said to be equal if their magnitude and direction are equal
  • Negative Vector : Negative of a vector is the vector of same magnitude but opposite direction. When a vector is added to its negative vector resultant is null vector.
  • Null Vector or Zero Vector : It is a vector whose magnitude is zero and direction is undetermined.
  • Real or Polar Vector : If the direction of a vector is independent of the change of coordinate system then it is called polar vector.(Ex - linear momentum, linear velocity)
  • Pseudo or Axial Vector : Vector associated with rotation about an axis and whose direction changes with a change in coordinate system.
  • Unit Vector : Vector whose magnitude is unity.Orthogonal unit vectors are i , j and k .
  • Position Vector : It is a vector that represents the position of a particle with respect to origin of a coordinate system. The vector does not change if the coordinate system is rotated with respect to original coordinate system, but its components change.

Hope this helps.
