Astrophysics is a field of science that studies the universe. The use of physics and chemistry rules to explain the origins of the cosmos, as well as the birth, life, and death of planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and other celestial objects. Astrophysics is related to cosmology and astronomy, two major areas of study that deal with space. Astrophysicists are scientists who study the cosmos and try to figure out how it works and what part humans play in it. NASA, the world's biggest space research agency, employs astrophysicists who study the universe's development and origins, as well as its workings and the presence of life on other worlds.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR MSC IN ASTROPHYSICS:-

  • Candidates must have completed a graduate course in a Science stream subject of study.
  • Candidates must have acquired at least 50% as the aggregate score in the qualifying examination.

ENTRANCE EXAM FOR MSC ASTROPHYSICS:-

1) COMMON POST GRADUATE ENTRANCE TEST (CPGET)- An entrance exam conducted by Osmania University, the CPGET grants admissions to aspirants to the various PG programmes offered by the university. The exam is held in the offline mode.

2)ANDHRA UNIVERSITY COMMON ENTRANCE TEST(AUCET)-Andhra University conducts this state level entrance exam to grant admission to students in the university’s postgraduate programmes offered in Science, Commerce, Management, Humanities, Journalism and Mass Communication, and Teaching.

The MSc in Astrophysics is a two-year postgraduate programme in which students learn both theoretical and observational parts of astronomy.

This course focuses primarily on developing research skills in Astrophysics, including optional modules such as Stars and Nebula, Gravitational Dynamics, and Accretion Physics. Both foundation and advanced skills are taught to the students.

Data analysis, scientific writing, science outreach and presentation, programming, and other skills are taught to MSc Astrophysics students. They learn about a variety of physics topics, arithmetic courses, quantum mechanics, and university laboratory work. Admission to this programme is determined by the results of several colleges' admission exams. The applicant for admission must have earned a bachelor's degree in science. The average fee for this course ranges from INR 5000 to 5 Lacs.
