Daphnia,trout fish and larva of stone fly are the example of fresh water indicator and tubifex,chironomous,e.coli,blood worms are the indicator of polluted water.i Hope this information helps you.

Daphnia,trout fish and larva of stone fly indicate fresh water where is the microbiological as well as biochemical quality of polluted water near BSS by breakpoint chlorination or biological oxygen demand which can be measured by horrocks apparatus and also by cholrinometer  and we can reconfirm by presence of escherichia coli in water can be confirmed by presumptive coliform count which measures how many colonies of escherichia coli present in the polluted water body using Eijkman's reagent
