Difference in the syllabus of JEE Main and Advanced Chemistry
Given below each chapter is the list of topics not included in JEE Advanced, but is listed in JEE Main.
States of Matter & Solutions
Liquid state
Electric, magnetic and dielectric properties of solids
Henry’s law, osmotic pressure
Chemical Bonding
Kossel-lewis approach
Molecular orbital theory
Atomic Structure
Discovery of sub-atomic particles and earlier atomic models
Equilibrium
Physical equilibrium
Chemical Kinetics
Collision theory
Surface Chemistry
Adsorption isotherms
Inorganic Chemistry
Entire H chapter
F Block elements
Biomolecules
Proteins, vitamins and nucleic acids
Practical Chemistry
Only qualitative analysis of gp 1-4 included, rest everything is excluded
Apart from this, complete chapters of Hydrogen, F Block elements, Chemistry in everyday life and Environmental chemistry are NOT included in the syllabus of JEE Advanced. On the other hand, Normality and equivalent weight is INCLUDED in the syllabus of JEE Advanced, but NOT INCLUDED in the syllabus of JEE Main.
Difference in the syllabus of JEE Main and Advanced Physics
Entire chapters of Magnetism and Matter, Semiconductors and Communication systems is not a part of JEE Advanced Physics syllabus. Only Bohr’s model in included from the chapter Atoms. Additionally, from Mechanics of Solids, Bulk modulus and modulus of rigidity are not included. From Optics, Diffraction and Polarisation is not asked in JEE Advanced.
Difference in the syllabus of JEE Main and Advanced Maths
JEE Advanced syllabus for Maths includes harmonic progressions. However, the chapters of Sets, Statistics, Mathematical Induction Mathematical reasoning are NOT there.
So prepare accordingly.
Do note a few things from previous years: generally speaking, JEE Main exploits these areas and any surprise change in weightage is generally from these topics. On the other hand, JEE Advanced can ask complex questions which require knowledge of the topics which are included by them but not by JEE Main.
