All first-year students at the Institute are required to live in on-campus dormitories. The school has two dorms for women and seven for boys, three of which include single-seated dormitories for upperclassmen. There is a separate mess hall for each dorm that is run by the wardens. There are volleyball nets and concrete badminton courts in each dorm, as well as table tennis and carom boards for use indoors. The NIT's main field, appropriately called "The Oval," is where the majority of the competition takes place. A regulation-size running track is also present on the field for sports.
