Government jobs which you can apply for:
- You can apply to work at a government hospital as a logistics and food head and look after the quality, quantity and sanitation of the food and validate if it is safe for patients and other personnel.
- You can apply to government-aided or national research laboratories as food technician and researcher. This will give you a medium to make a use of the technical knowledge you will gain after your B.Tech and apply it in real life.

Eligibility criteria for food inspector or food officer:
- Age : The candidates applying must be in the age range of 18-25 years.
- Educational Qualification : Candidates should have completed either medical or have a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, agriculture, dairy technology, or food technology.
- Selection Procedure : Candidates will be selected on the basis of their results in the written exam and the personal interview.

National-level examination:
1. UPSC All India Food Inspector Exam:
- This is a national level examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for the recruitments of food inspectors from all across the country.
- The exam consists of technical and aptitude based questions.
- Qualifications : The candidate should either posses a degree in medicine, or should have a degree in the science stream with chemistry as a mandatory subject, or have a Bachelor's degree in public health, agriculture, veterinary science, pharmacy. dairy technology, food technology.
- The examination is for 150 minutes and it will comprise of an English language test, a test on general knowledge about national and international happenings, and numerical abilities.
State examinations:
States like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, West Bengal etc. have separate recruiting committees which recruit food inspectors, food safety officers, food and supply subordinate etc.

- A food inspectors responsibility is to keep a check on food manufacturing, processing and distribution for violation of sanitation and safety policies.
- The inspectors also survey poultry farms and slaughter houses.
