What are the important steps that I should follow after 12th to become a successful car designer?
Hello,
The creation of road vehicles lies at the heart of automotive design. For the visual look as well as the practical performance of cars, automotive designers use drawings and computer-aided design (CAD) tools to generate concepts. The bulk of an automotive designer's time is spent in an office, although they may also work on manufacturing floors where their designs are made.
Eligibility:
A bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial design, or architecture is required for promotion; a master's degree in business administration (MBA) is recommended.
As part of the admissions process, several design schools ask students to present portfolios, or sample bodies of work. Aspiring automotive designers can take painting, drawing, or drafting electives in high school to help them build their portfolios, which may contain 2D drawings or 3D art pieces. Summer programmes are also available at certain design schools to assist high school students prepare for college.
Employers often demand that automotive designers have a bachelor's degree in design or engineering. Transportation design, which is a subset of industrial design, and mechanical engineering with automotive design concentrations are two examples of 4-year degrees available.
3D design and modelling, design theory, and vehicle systems are some of the courses available to transportation design students. Coursework on design for manufacturing, power train systems, and vehicle dynamics may be included in the curriculum for automotive mechanical engineering students.
Some colleges providing the design courses
- National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad
- MAEERs MIT Institute of Design, Pune
- DSK International School of Design, Pune
- Mantra Academy, Bangalore (they don’t offer Bachelor of Design, they offer Diplomas)
Hope it helped
Thank you
