Hi Ravi,
Astrophysics is a very interesting branch. There are jobs which are pretty well paid.
The different jobs include that of a cognitive space engineer, postdoctoral researcher, scientific journalist, data scientist, etc. It takes a Ph.D., a number of post-doctoral stints before ending up with a permanent job at an organization. The other kinds of jobs that one might get after a Ph.D. degree are of plasma physicist, atmospheric scientist, etc.
Some places where aspirants can get a job are Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, National Centre for Radio Astrophysics in Pune, ISRO, Technology Information Forecasting & Assessment Control, IIST, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, TATA Institute of Fundamental Research etc.
IIAP has job listings currently for research scientists, university faculty, project-specific assistants, project engineers, Engineer B (Optical), Engineer B (Mechanical). National Centre for Radio Astrophysics has a job opening for administrative officer currently.
So yes, though the field is a niche here in India yet there are jobs that one can get after doing a Ph.D. in astrophysics.
Best wishes!
HELLO RAVI KUMAR
Astrophysics
The study which covers the every detail about the properties of stars, planets and the galaxies is referred as Astrophysics or Astronomy. This option is totally different from the other and can be completed after graduation only. Basically astronomy is a course which deals with researches made with the calculations of Physics and Mathematics. The studies about gravitational pulls, calculations of obits, satellites are included in the course. One part of this study is Cosmology which learns about the universe entirely.
Skills and Eligibility for Studying Astrophysics
If you want to apply for this course, following eligibility and skills are considered as compulsory. 1. A student should be able to understand the subjects like Physics and Maths thoroughly as these two subjects are the base of the course. 2. The student needs to be very curious to acquire more and more knowledge. 3. This job requires the team work as well as independent efforts or many hours. A student should have capacity to give his best efforts for studies. 4. Continuous efforts and complete concentration is required along with the hardworking nature. 5. The students should have determination and endurance to work beside all odds while completing the given task. 6. The student should be systematic in using computers and computation.

Job Opportunities for Astrophysics in India These are some of the world famous institutions for studies of Astronomy or Astrophysics. Now let's focus upon the job opportunities after the completion of the course. The Indian Institute of Astronomers and several other astronomical institutions offer the job opportunity as Junior Research Scientist after completing the course successfully. Later in future after experience and achievements job opportunities are available with famous government institutes like DRDO and ISRO.
· Education - you can’t be a Professor, but you could manage a lab, or a school’s observatory, or work in public outreach, or work at a planetarium or science center.
· Observational research - you probably won't be a Primary Investigator, but you could take data in a collaboration, or you operate or maintain a big telescope.
· Computational/theoretical research - again, you probably wouldn’t be P.I., but if you’re good at math or programming, you might help out in a collaboration.
· Instrumentation - if you understand instruments and detectors, you could help build the next generation of instruments.
HOPE IT HELPS
